It seems like the central idea of this passage is God's freely-given goodness to his people, in that he lavishes blessing on them. These verses explain why God is blessed, why and how he blesses us, and even gives reasons for his blessing. This is a very God-exalting passage since it includes ideas like his choice in predestination, thereby excluding man's effort to attain the blessing, and our adoption as sons into his family where he alone stands as Father.
