This is another God-exalting explanation of how he intervenes in the lives of men. According to his divine purpose and sovereign will, he enables men to obtain an inheritance, through means by which only he can provide, namely, the predestined hope found in Christ and sealed by the Holy Spirit. Hearing and believing the gospel are the parts by which men participate in this divine act of predestination, yet the inheritance is secured and guaranteed by God himself, all to the praise of his own glory.
