notes
Main point summary
John states two things that are known - 1. we reside in Him; 2. God's love - and two things that are testified to - 1. the Father has sent the Son; 2. Jesus is the Son of God. This passage also contains an alternating structure of abiding in him (v13), God's love (v14), abiding in Him (v15) and God's love (v16). Finally we see here trinitarian thought: Spirit (v13), Father (v14), Son (v15) and God (v16).
