Rejoice in the Lord for everything else is loss compared to knowing Him because that is the greatest gain in all the world. The goal of life is to know Him and the power of His resurrection and share in His sufferings and to become like Him in His death in order to acheive resurrection from the dead. 1. Why would Paul count something that is gain as loss? Is it because it was not really gain in the first place? Or short-lived gain? Is there better gain? 2. How can Paul say as to righteousness under the law blameless? What does he mean by that? 3. What does Paul mean by attaining the ressurection from the dead? 4. What is the main purpose or goal of counting everything as loss? What is Paul getting at with all of these purposes?

Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord.
Finally, my brothers, rejoice in the Lord.
To write the same things again is no trouble to me,
To write the same things to you is no trouble to me
and it is a safeguard for you.
and is safe for you.

Beware of the dogs,
Look out for the dogs,
beware of the evil workers,
look out for the evildoers,
beware of the false circumcision;
look out for those who mutilate the flesh.
for we are the true circumcision, who worship in the Spirit of God
For we are the circumcision, who worship by the Spirit of God

and put no confidence in the flesh,
and put no confidence in the flesh--
although I myself might have confidence even in the flesh.
though I myself have reason for confidence in the flesh also.
If anyone else has a mind to put confidence in the flesh,
If anyone else thinks he has reason for confidence in the flesh,
I far more:
I have more:

as to the righteousness which is in the Law, found blameless.
as to righteousness under the law, blameless.

More than that, I count all things to be loss
Indeed, I count everything as loss
in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord,
because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.
for whom I have suffered the loss of all things,
For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things
and count them but rubbish
and count them as rubbish,
so that I may gain Christ,
in order that I may gain Christ
and may be found in Him,
and be found in him,
not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law,
not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law,
but that which is through faith in Christ,
but that which comes through faith in Christ,
the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith,
the righteousness from God that depends on faith--
