Main point summary
I proclaim to you the unknown God! He is the sovereign creator and sustainer and therefore we must repent of thinking we worship him in the worship of idols. For one day he will judge the world by a Man whom he has raised from the dead.

So Paul, standing in the midst of the Areopagus, said:
After Paul daily sought to share the gospel in Jewish and pagan contexts, God opened up an opportunity to speak to a crowd. He said :
“Men of Athens, I perceive that in every way you are very religious.
It is very clear that you are a people with which spiritual things hold a central place in your lives
For as I passed along
It is clear because as I walk around
and observed the objects of your worship,
taking note of all the altars and idols
actionmanner
I found also an altar with this inscription, ‘To the unknown god.’
I discovered this altar which was inscribed to some unknown god.

What therefore you worship as unknown, this I proclaim to you.
Therefore in light of your spirituality and my discovery of this altar, I am going to declare to you who this God is whom you worship but do not know :
The God who made the world and everything in it,
The singular God has created all that exists
being Lord of heaven and earth,
and he is the King and Master of all there is.
series
does not live in temples made by man,
Therefore he obviously does not live inside of something us mortals have made!
inference
nor is he served by human hands,
Secondly , God is not served by people the way your pagan "gods" served
as though he needed anything,
in acting as if God has "needs"
since he himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything.
since the Creator God gives to everyone our very life, not to mention everything else.
And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth,
Rather the Creator God has made from a single first man every country which exists to live in the world
having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place,
in this way that he has providentially determined when and where we all would live
that they should seek God,
with the purpose that we would seek for him
and perhaps feel their way toward him
and then understand more of who he is
and find him.
and then come to know him.

Yet he is actually not far from each one of us,
Even though God is not distant from any of us in one sense
for “‘In him we live and move and have our being’;
since he is everywhere and in every aspect of our existence!
as even some of your own poets have said, “‘For we are indeed his offspring.’
just like some of your own poets have noted that we are his children in a sense.

Being then God’s offspring,
Therefore since we are God's children
we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone,
we should most certainly not think of him with any connection to material idols
an image formed by the art and imagination of man.
that is something that came out of the artistry and creativity of man (and thus are the "children" of man)
ideaexplanation
The times of ignorance God overlooked,
For the epics in which so much of the world has lived in this foolishness God has let be
but now he commands all people everywhere to repent,
but now he is calling and commanding all people in every place to turn from such foolishness
because he has fixed a day
for (1) God has set a day to come
on which he will judge the world in righteousness
in order to judge the world according to his righteous standard
by a man whom he has appointed;
by a singular man whom God has chosen.
and of this he has given assurance to all
(2) This fact has been proven to all willing to investigate it
by raising him from the dead.”
by the resurrection of this singular man from the dead.
