Proverbs 20:7 ESV
7 The righteous who j walks in his integrity— k blessed are his children after him!
Most people want to think of themselves as good, generously overlooking their own faults and failings. Most people also want others to think of them as good. Here's the point: it means nothing when a person (you or another, in or out of the church) talks about how they are a good person. This seems obvious as you read it now, but the reality is we fall for it all the time! As it has often been said, words are cheap. Finding someone who faithfully lives out his words is something else altogether! Thus, we must keep our trust in the ultimate Man of faithfulness, who didn't talk about his trustworthy grace, but performed it on our behalf.
