And calling the crowd to him with his disciples,
In response to the push-back from Jesus' disciples after he talked about his impending suffering, death and resurrection, Jesus brought in a crowd with the twelve
he said to them,
in order to say to them:
“If anyone would come after me,
If a person wants to be my follower
let him deny himself
then he must give up his comfort and rights
and take up his cross
in order to choose the road marked with suffering
and follow me.
