The Central Idea of the passage is Paul giving a defence(or the reason) of his statements in vs 11 and 12 that his gospel is not according to man. Throught the progressive nature of his story he emphasizes the fact that he learnt is gospel not from men. This he makes clear by stating that: 1. The one who called him is GOD (also seen in the beginning of the chapter when he introduces himself as and apostle - sent not from men nor by man but trough christ) 2. After the encounter with christ and the command to preach to the gentiles he did not consult man(flesh and blood - NASB) 3. Went to arabia( Apostles were in Jerusalem) 4. Went to Jerusalem only after 3 years but did not meet anyone except Peter and James So there is focus on the fact that it is not from man that Paul got the gospel.

For you have heard of my former manner of life in Judaism,
For you have heard of my former life in Judaism,
how I used to persecute the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it;
how I persecuted the church of God violently and tried to destroy it.
ideaexplanation
and I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries among my countrymen,
And I was advancing in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people,
being more extremely zealous for my ancestral traditions.
so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers.

But when God,
But when he
who had set me apart
who had set me apart
even from my mother's womb
before I was born,
temporal
and called me through His grace, was pleased
and who called me by his grace,
series
to reveal His Son in me
was pleased to reveal his Son to me,
so that I might preach Him among the Gentiles,
in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles,
actionpurpose
I did not immediately consult with flesh and blood,
I did not immediately consult with anyone;
nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me;
nor did I go up to Jerusalem to those who were apostles before me,
but I went away to Arabia,
but I went away into Arabia,
and returned once more to Damascus.
and returned again to Damascus.
Then three years later I went up to Jerusalem
Then after three years I went up to Jerusalem
to become acquainted with Cephas,
to visit Cephas
and stayed with him fifteen days.
and remained with him fifteen days.
But I did not see any other of the apostles except James, the Lord's brother.
But I saw none of the other apostles except James the Lord's brother.
(Now in what I am writing to you,
(In what I am writing to you,
I assure you before God that I am not lying.)
before God, I do not lie!)
Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.
Then I went into the regions of Syria and Cilicia.
I was still unknown by sight to the churches of Judea which were in Christ;
And I was still unknown in person to the churches of Judea that are in Christ.
but only, they kept hearing,
They only were hearing it said,
"He who once persecuted us
"He who used to persecute us
is now preaching the faith which he once tried to destroy."
is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy."
And they were glorifying God because of me.
And they glorified God because of me.
