Paul here is expresing himself to the galatians with burden. He lets them know that they have been extremely elpful to him. He urges them to become like him. He questions them twice and brings them to realize that people are trying to make the galatians dependent on them and make them seek after these people. Paul calls the galatians as little children. He adreses them lovingly. Note that in the last chapter he was very strong in his tone. He says that he feels that his work on them is in vain and says that he is in labour again for them. His fatherly instinct for the churches is seen here.

I beg of you, brethren,
Brothers, I entreat you,
become as I am,
become as I am,
for I also have become as you are.
for I also have become as you are.

ideaexplanation
You have done me no wrong;
You did me no wrong.
but you know
You know
that it was because of a bodily illness
it was because of a bodily ailment
that I preached the gospel to you the first time;
that I preached the gospel to you at first,
and that which was a trial to you in my bodily condition
and though my condition was a trial to you,
you did not despise or loathe,
you did not scorn or despise me,
but you received me as an angel of God,
but received me as an angel of God,
as Christ Jesus Himself.
as Christ Jesus.
Where then is that sense of blessing you had?
What then has become of the blessing you felt?
For I bear you witness
For I testify to you
that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.
that, if possible, you would have gouged out your eyes and given them to me.
So have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?
Have I then become your enemy by telling you the truth?
They eagerly seek you,
They make much of you,
not commendably,
but for no good purpose.
alternative
but they wish to shut you out
They want to shut you out,
so that you will seek them.
that you may make much of them.
actionpurpose
But it is good always
It is always good
to be eagerly sought in a commendable manner,
to be made much of for a good purpose,
and not only when I am present with you.
and not only when I am present with you,
My children,
my little children,
with whom I am again in labor
for whom I am again in the anguish of childbirth
until Christ is formed in you--
until Christ is formed in you!
but I could wish to be present with you now and to change my tone,
I wish I could be present with you now and change my tone,
for I am perplexed about you.
for I am perplexed about you.
