Central Idea of the Passage is pointing out to the Galatians through the use of thought provoking questions wether tthey believe justification by works or faith. In the last verse of Chapter 2 Paul makes a statement that "if righteousness could be gained by the law then christ died for nothing" This paves the was for vs 1 here sdaying that it was befory your very eyes the christ was clearly portrayed as crucufied. Are you so foolish? Has someone cast a spel on your eyes tat you cant see stuff that is obvious. He drives his point by the means of 3 questions. THe crux of the questions are the same is it by works or by faith. 1. Have you RECEIVED the spirit by WORKS of the law or by hearing with FAITH 2. Having begun in the spirit are you being perfected by the law 3. Does God give you his Spirit because of works or by faith. In the proceeding passage he explaing the answer to them. These are rhetoric questions that are intended to make them think rather than just give an answer. These are not just choose the correct answer kind of questions but they are thought provoking questions.

You foolish Galatians, who has bewitched you,
O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you?
before whose eyes
It was before your eyes
Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified?
that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified.
series
ideaexplanation
This is the only thing I want to find out from you:
Let me ask you only this:
did you receive the Spirit by the works of the Law,
Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law
or by hearing with faith?
or by hearing with faith?
alternative
Are you so foolish?
Are you so foolish?
Having begun by the Spirit,
Having begun by the Spirit,
are you now being perfected by the flesh?
are you now being perfected by the flesh?
Did you suffer so many things in vain--
Did you suffer so many things in vain--
if indeed it was in vain?
if indeed it was in vain?
So then, does He
Does he
who provides you with the Spirit
who supplies the Spirit
and works miracles among you,
to you and works miracles among you
do it by the works of the Law,
do so by works of the law,
or by hearing with faith?
or by hearing with faith--
Even so Abraham BELIEVED GOD,
just as Abraham "believed God,
AND IT WAS RECKONED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS.
and it was counted to him as righteousness"?
Therefore, be sure
Know then that
that it is those who are of faith
it is those of faith
who are sons of Abraham.
who are the sons of Abraham.
The Scripture,
And the Scripture,
foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith,
foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith,
preached the gospel
preached the gospel
beforehand to Abraham, saying, "ALL THE NATIONS WILL BE BLESSED IN YOU."
beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you shall all the nations be blessed."
actionpurpose
So then those who are of faith are blessed with Abraham, the believer.
So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
