Blessedness of trusting in the lord..!!! Background - not very clear but it may have been composed after Nathan telling David about gods covenant with him.(2 Samuel 7) David puts his trust in the lord. He is sure that lord was heard his prayer and in response he says he as No good other lord himself. Fellowship with the saints. Keeps himself from the wicked at the same time a Comparison between the godly and the ungodly is also done the godly are considered as excellent people and David has keen intersts in them but the ungodly's sorrows shall multiply..and David has no regard for them. The blessed state of trusting the lord. David explains the blessed state in three aspects.... Lord has given him an inheritance. Lord will counsel him and instructs him Lord is always there by his side and thus he is sure about the .. security of his salvation.(relating to eternity) blessed of his life.(relating to life on earth)

Psalms 16:1-11
OT
esv
A Miktam of David. Preserve me, O God,
for in you I take refuge.
ground
I say to the LORD, "You are my Lord;
I have no good apart from you."
series
As for the saints in the land, they are the excellent ones,
in whom is all my delight.
The sorrows of those who run after another god shall multiply;
their drink offerings of blood I will not pour out or
take their names on my lips.

actionresult
The LORD is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot.
The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance.
ideaexplanation
I bless the LORD who gives me counsel;
in the night also my heart instructs me.
I have set the LORD always before me;
because he is at my right hand, I shall not be shaken.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my whole being rejoices;
my flesh also dwells secure.
For you will not abandon my soul to Sheol,
or let your holy one see corruption.
You make known to me the path of life;
in your presence there is fullness of joy;
at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

I'm working my way through the tutorial and will work on Psalm 16 afterward. I really like the way you've ordered your logical relationships, especially with verses 5 and 6 in the Idea-Explination discourse. I didn't see that initially.

I think, though, that verses 2b and 4a are related; which you've noted. But I also think they are the summation of the entire Psalm, much like Psalm 1 is pretty much a summation of the entire book of Psalms.

But I really enjoyed this. I'll let you know what I come up with.
