Τούτους τοὺς δώδεκα ἀπέστειλεν ὁ Ἰησοῦς
Jesus sent out these twelve, instructing them as follows: 13 “Do not go to Gentile regions 14 and do not enter any Samaritan town. 15
These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans.

Now preach as you go, saying, "The kingdom of heaven has come near."
ἀσθενοῦντας θεραπεύετε, νεκροὺς ἐγείρετε, λεπροὺς καθαρίζετε, δαιμόνια ἐκβάλλετε•
Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out out demons.

Do not take gold, silver, or copper in your belts, no bag 18 for the journey, or an extra tunic, 19 or sandals or staff, 20 for the worker deserves his provisions.
“Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts— no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep.
g Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, no bag for your journey, or two tunics 1 or sandals or a staff, for h the laborer deserves his food.
Acquire neither gold, nor silver, nor copper for your money belts, nor bag for the road, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staff;
ἄξιος γὰρ ὁ ἐργάτης τῆς τροφῆς αὐτοῦ.
for the worker [is] worthy of his food.

εἰς ἣν δʼ ἂν πόλιν ἢ κώμην εἰσέλθητε, ἐξετάσατε τίς ἐν αὐτῇ ἄξιός ἐστιν• κἀκεῖ μείνατε ἕως ἂν ἐξέλθητε.
Whenever 21 you enter a town or village, 22 find out who is worthy there 23 and stay with them 24 until you leave.

Now into whatever city or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy, and stay there until you leave.

εἰσερχόμενοι δὲ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν ἀσπάσασθε αὐτήν•
As you enter the house, give it greetings. 25

If the house is worthy, 1 give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, 2 take back your blessing of peace.
καὶ ἐὰν μὲν ᾖ ἡ οἰκία ἀξία,
And if the house is worthy, let your peace come on it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 26
If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you.
And if the house is j worthy, let i your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let i your peace return to you.
And if the house is truly worthy,
ἐλθάτω ἡ εἰρήνη ὑμῶν ἐπʼ αὐτήν,
let your peace come upon it;

but if the house is unworthy,
ἡ εἰρήνη ὑμῶν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐπιστραφήτω.

ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀνεκτότερον ἔσται γῇ Σοδόμων καὶ Γομόρρων ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κρίσεως ἢ τῇ πόλει ἐκείνῃ.
I tell you the truth, 28 it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom and Gomorrah 29 on the day of judgment than for that town!

Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues.
Beware of men, for r they will deliver you over to courts and flog you s in their synagogues,
Now beware of men,
παραδώσουσιν γὰρ ὑμᾶς εἰς συνέδρια καὶ ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς αὐτῶν μαστιγώσουσιν ὑμᾶς•
for they will hand you over to the courts and flog you in their synagogues.
and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.
καὶ ἐπὶ ἡγεμόνας δὲ καὶ βασιλεῖς ἀχθήσεσθε ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ
And you will be brought before governors and kings 36 because of me, as a witness to them and the Gentiles.
On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.

And you will even be led before governors and kings for my sake
εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν.

a But when they hand you over, b do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say.
ὅταν δὲ παραδῶσιν ὑμᾶς,
Whenever 37 they hand you over for trial, do not worry about how to speak or what to say, 38 for what you should say will be given to you at that time. 39
But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say,

Now when they hand you over,
μὴ μεριμνήσητε πῶς ἢ τί λαλήσητε•
do not worry about how or what you should say,

for what should say will be given to you
For a it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὥρᾳ
For it is not you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
x For it is not you who speak, but y the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.
in that hour.
οὐ γὰρ ὑμεῖς ἐστε οἱ λαλοῦντες
For you are not the ones speaking,
ἀλλὰ τὸ πνεῦμα τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν τὸ λαλοῦν ἐν ὑμῖν.
