And as you go, 1 preach, saying, ‘ a The kingdom of heaven 2 is at hand.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

πορευόμενοι δὲ κηρύσσετε λέγοντες ὅτι ἤγγικεν ἡ βασιλεία τῶν οὐρανῶν.

As you go, preach this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven is near!’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, 17 cleanse lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.

As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.

And proclaim as you go, saying, d ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ e Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, 1 cast out demons. f You received without paying; give without pay.

Now preach as you go, saying, "The kingdom of heaven has come near."

ἀσθενοῦντας θεραπεύετε, νεκροὺς ἐγείρετε, λεπροὺς καθαρίζετε, δαιμόνια ἐκβάλλετε•

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out out demons.

Do not take gold, silver, or copper in your belts, no bag 18 for the journey, or an extra tunic, 19 or sandals or staff, 20 for the worker deserves his provisions.

“Do not get any gold or silver or copper to take with you in your belts— no bag for the journey or extra shirt or sandals or a staff, for the worker is worth his keep.

g Acquire no gold or silver or copper for your belts, no bag for your journey, or two tunics 1 or sandals or a staff, for h the laborer deserves his food.

Acquire neither gold, nor silver, nor copper for your money belts, nor bag for the road, nor two tunics, nor sandals, nor staff;

ἄξιος γὰρ ὁ ἐργάτης τῆς τροφῆς αὐτοῦ.

for the worker [is] worthy of his food.

And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay 1 at his house until you leave that city.

εἰς ἣν δʼ ἂν πόλιν ἢ κώμην εἰσέλθητε, ἐξετάσατε τίς ἐν αὐτῇ ἄξιός ἐστιν• κἀκεῖ μείνατε ἕως ἂν ἐξέλθητε.

Whenever 21 you enter a town or village, 22 find out who is worthy there 23 and stay with them 24 until you leave.

Whatever town or village you enter, search there for some worthy person and stay at their house until you leave.

And whatever town or village you enter, find out who is worthy in it and stay there until you depart.

Now into whatever city or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy, and stay there until you leave.

As you enter the 1 house, a give it your 2 greeting.

εἰσερχόμενοι δὲ εἰς τὴν οἰκίαν ἀσπάσασθε αὐτήν•

As you enter the house, give it greetings. 25

As you enter the home, give it your greeting.

As you enter the house, i greet it.

And as you enter the house, great it.

If the house is worthy, 1 give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, 2 take back your blessing of peace.

καὶ ἐὰν μὲν ᾖ ἡ οἰκία ἀξία,

And if the house is worthy, let your peace come on it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. 26

If the home is deserving, let your peace rest on it; if it is not, let your peace return to you.

And if the house is j worthy, let i your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let i your peace return to you.

And if the house is truly worthy,

ἐλθάτω ἡ εἰρήνη ὑμῶν ἐπʼ αὐτήν,

let your peace come upon it;

ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ᾖ ἀξία,

but if the house is unworthy,

ἡ εἰρήνη ὑμῶν πρὸς ὑμᾶς ἐπιστραφήτω.

let your piece return to you.

Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, a shake the dust off your feet.

καὶ ὃς ἂν μὴ δέξηται ὑμᾶς μηδὲ ἀκούσῃ τοὺς λόγους ὑμῶν, ἐξερχόμενοι ἔξω τῆς οἰκίας ἢ τῆς πόλεως ἐκείνης ἐκτινάξατε τὸν κονιορτὸν τῶν ποδῶν ὑμῶν.

And if anyone will not welcome you or listen to your message, shake the dust off 27 your feet as you leave that house or that town.

If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, leave that home or town and shake the dust off your feet.

And if anyone will not receive you or listen to your words, l shake off the dust from your feet when you leave that house or town.

And whoever does not receive you or listen to your words, shake the dust off your feat when you leave that house or city.

Truly I say to you, a it will be more tolerable for the land of b Sodom and Gomorrah in c the day of judgment than for that city.

ἀμὴν λέγω ὑμῖν, ἀνεκτότερον ἔσται γῇ Σοδόμων καὶ Γομόρρων ἐν ἡμέρᾳ κρίσεως ἢ τῇ πόλει ἐκείνῃ.

I tell you the truth, 28 it will be more bearable for the region of Sodom and Gomorrah 29 on the day of judgment than for that town!

Truly I tell you, it will be more bearable for Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.

Truly, I say to you, m it will be more bearable on the day of judgment for n the land of Sodom and Gomorrah than for that town.

Truly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.

But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the a courts and scourge you b in their synagogues;

Προσέχετε δὲ ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνθρώπων•

Beware 32 of people, because they will hand you over to councils 33 and flog 34 you in their synagogues. 35

Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils and be flogged in the synagogues.

Beware of men, for r they will deliver you over to courts and flog you s in their synagogues,

Now beware of men,

παραδώσουσιν γὰρ ὑμᾶς εἰς συνέδρια καὶ ἐν ταῖς συναγωγαῖς αὐτῶν μαστιγώσουσιν ὑμᾶς•

for they will hand you over to the courts and flog you in their synagogues.

and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles.

καὶ ἐπὶ ἡγεμόνας δὲ καὶ βασιλεῖς ἀχθήσεσθε ἕνεκεν ἐμοῦ

And you will be brought before governors and kings 36 because of me, as a witness to them and the Gentiles.

On my account you will be brought before governors and kings as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles.

r and you will be dragged before governors and kings for my sake, t to bear witness before them and the Gentiles.

And you will even be led before governors and kings for my sake

εἰς μαρτύριον αὐτοῖς καὶ τοῖς ἔθνεσιν.

—for a testimony to them and the Gentiles.

a But when they hand you over, b do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say.

ὅταν δὲ παραδῶσιν ὑμᾶς,

Whenever 37 they hand you over for trial, do not worry about how to speak or what to say, 38 for what you should say will be given to you at that time. 39

But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it. At that time you will be given what to say,

r When u they deliver you over, v do not be anxious how you are to speak or what you are to say, for w what you are to say will be given to you in that hour.

Now when they hand you over,

μὴ μεριμνήσητε πῶς ἢ τί λαλήσητε•

do not worry about how or what you should say,

δοθήσεται γὰρ ὑμῖν ... τί λαλήσητε•

for what should say will be given to you

For a it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

ἐν ἐκείνῃ τῇ ὥρᾳ

For it is not you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

x For it is not you who speak, but y the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.

in that hour.

οὐ γὰρ ὑμεῖς ἐστε οἱ λαλοῦντες

For you are not the ones speaking,

ἀλλὰ τὸ πνεῦμα τοῦ πατρὸς ὑμῶν τὸ λαλοῦν ἐν ὑμῖν.

but [it is] the Spirit of your Father speaking in you.
