The Gospel Of Grace 1 Cor. 15:1-11 In this passage Paul is describing the glorious gospel of the grace of God (Acts 20:24). 1. The Content of the Gospel: 15:3-8. The gospel has to do with 2 crucial facts of history: The death of Jesus Christ as substitutionary atonement The resurrection of Jesus Christ as sproven by His many appearances 2. The Power of the Gospel: A. In The Believer's Life: 15:1-2 They stand in the gospel They are saved by the gospel B. In Paul's Life: 15:9-11 It found Paul as a Rebellious Persecutor of the Church It transformed Paul into a Tireless Laborer for the Church Life Application: 1. The gospel is needed not only to begin the Christian life, but to live the Christian life (in which you stand... you are being saved) 2. The gospel is of 1st importance, while many other subjects are of secondary importance (eschatology, spiritual gifts, church government, etc.) It is not essential that we agree on secondary issues, but it is vital that we agree on the gospel! 3. The gospel is not about what we do, but about what God has done in Christ! 4. The message of the gospel is not that God loves you, or that Christ is your example.

Now I make known to you, brethren, the gospel
which I preached to you,

which also you received,
in which also you stand,
by which also you are saved,
if you hold fast the word which I preached to you,

unless you believed in vain.

For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received,
that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
and that He was buried,
and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,

and that He appeared to Cephas,
then to the twelve.
After that He appeared to more than five hundred brethren at one time,
most of whom remain until now,
but some have fallen asleep;

then He appeared to James,
then to all the apostles;
and last of all, as to one untimely born, He appeared to me also.
For I am the least of the apostles,
and not fit to be called an apostle,
because I persecuted the church of God.

But by the grace of God I am what I am,
and His grace toward me did not prove vain;
but I labored even more than all of them,
yet not I,
but the grace of God with me.
Whether then it was I or they,
so we preach
and so you believed.
