Jesus is in heaven to provide help to His own.
Hebrews 4:12-16
For w the word of God is living and x active, y sharper than any z two-edged sword,
Because God's word is alive and working, and more effective than any knife,
piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow,
and it divides and separates between the inner parts of our being
and a discerning the thoughts
and it judges our attitudes
and intentions of the heart.
and our motives that come from within.
And b no creature is hidden from his sight,
And no created being is hidden from his Creator
but all are c naked
on the other hand all His creators are undressed
and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
and laid bare before the eyes of God who will hold them accountable.
Since then we have d a great high priest e who has passed through the heavens, Jesus, the Son of God,
Because Jesus is our high priest and the Son of God and He is in heaven at God's right hand
f let us hold fast our confession.
therefore we should continue to in His help.
For we do not have a high priest g who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,
Because we do not have someone who can not relate to our human frailty,
but one who in every respect has been d tempted as we are,
instead we have a Savior who is human and has been tested like we have,
h yet without sin.
but He is never given in to temptation.
i Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace,
So we can come close to the place where Jesus is without fear,
that we may receive mercy
so that we can obtain mercy
and find grace to help in time of need.
and discover gracious provisions in our weakness.
As believers we can gain confidence in approaching God as we fix our eyes on Jesus, our high priest. 1) What characteristics of Jesus are revealed here that can increase our confidence before God? 2) What characteristics of the Word of God revealed here can increase our confidence before God? 3) What can the believer expect when he comes to God through faith in Jesus Christ? In the book of 1 John we read, "Love has been perfected among us in this; that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts our fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us." (1 John 4:17-19 NKJV) It is the love of God revealed at the Cross that gives the believer confidence before God even through the Word of God exposes sin that still exists in the heart of the believer.
