Meditation
We need to be careful of our associations for anyone who is a friend to the world is an enemy of God ( James 4:4 ). Therefore, if we walk with the world (i.e., the wicked--those with a mental disregard for justice, righteousness, virtue, honor, truth), then their sphere of influence may overpower us. We may become so enthralled with their easy, breezy way of life that we find our footsteps slowing so as to enjoy their company longer. Before we know it, we have stopped completely, and we are at a standstill. Consistently being in the company of the ungodly has led us to adopting the habits and mannerisms of those who actively rebel against God: failing to do what's right, loveless towards others. It is indeed a slippery slope.. We Until at last so enrapt and so ensconced that we make ourselves comfortable, sitting down and settling in with those who openly show contempt for God through their words and actions. We are now one with them. The antidote? The preventative? Read the Word. Daily. Study it. Ponder on it. Chew on it. Get to know the God who speaks to you through it. He will teach you, correct you, discipline you, comfort you and reveal Himself to you. And you will prosper in ways the world can never offer or understand.
