His divine power has granted to us all things [everything we need] that pertain to life and godliness,

God's power has provided all that we need as believers to live godly lives, lives that mirror His image

through the knowledge of Him who called us to his own glory and excellence,

and we acquire and use that power by means of knowing Him and knowing that we have been called by Him,

by which [His glory and excellence] He has granted to us His precious and very great promises,

and by His amazing promises [of salvation, of deliverance, of provision, of protection, of Presence]

so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature,

with the result that we may imitate Him, even be like Him and show His nature to the world

having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
