Main point summary
I wait patiently for God my refuge because the threats of men will last only for a while, therefore I wait for God alone who is my protector and deliverer. Trust Him all the time because people's lives are like a mere breath and the gain from oppression and robbery will not last. God is the ultimate judge who delivers those who trust Him and repays evildoers.
For God alone I patiently wait; 1
he is the one who delivers me . 2
He alone is my protector 3 and deliverer .
He is my refuge ; 4
I will not be upended. 5
How long will you threaten 6 a man?
All of you are murderers , 7
as dangerous as a leaning wall or an unstable fence. 8
They 9 spend all their time planning how to bring him 10 down. 11
They love to use deceit ; 12
they pronounce blessings with their mouths,
but inwardly they utter curses . 13 (Selah)
Patiently wait for God alone, my soul! 14
For he is the one who gives me confidence. 15
He alone is my protector 16 and deliverer .
He is my refuge ; 17
I will not be upended. 18
God delivers me and exalts me;
God is my strong protector and my shelter . 19
Trust in him at all times, you people!
Pour out your hearts before him! 20
God is our shelter! (Selah)
Men are nothing but a mere breath ;
human beings are unreliable . 21
When they are weighed in the scales,
all of them together are lighter than air . 22
Do not trust in what you can gain by oppression ! 23
Do not put false confidence in what you can gain by robbery ! 24
If wealth increases,
do not become attached to it ! 25
God has declared one principle;
two principles I have heard: 26
God is strong , 27
and you, O Lord, demonstrate loyal love . 28
For you repay men for what they do. 29
Rhetorical question: You won't threaten man for long.
