Main point summary
A person under grace should know that he has become a slave of righteousness and therefore devotes his being completely to God. The person under grace is not anymore a slave of sin, therefore he shouldn't devote himself to sin. The devotion of a person results in fruit. It is either shameful fruit ending in eternal death, or honorable and beautiful fruit ending in eternal life.

questionanswer
How did this presenting our members as slaves of uncleanness and lawlessness look like?
The person under grace is expected to know the following: Every person is slave to either sin or obedience Sin leads to death Obedience leads to righteousness A Christian was a slave of sin, but obeyed (i.e. an act of faith in Christ) and was therefore delivered by the Gospel A Christian is free from sin and became a slave of righteousness
What does it mean to be "under grace"?
Obedience to believe God and submit to His ways? Sin is the self-centered/self-righteous way. The way apart from God. So the way of obedience is the path of presenting/surrendering/devoting all to Him.
Why should a Christian present himself as a slave of righteousness for holiness? 22a Because he has been set free from sin 22b because he has become a slave of God

Notes
Verses 15 - 16: "Under grace" is the person who received justification by faith in Jesus Christ and with that all the tremendous blessings that are in Christ. To name a few from the book of Romans: Peace with God, access to God, joy in the Lord even in trouble, reconciliation with God, and fruitful union with Christ. [If these blessings do not mean anything to you, you might need to ask the Lord to show them to you and also work hard to understand them. (Pro 2)] Verses 16 - 18: A person under grace is expected to know the following: Every person is a slave to either sin (devotion to old self [selfishness, self-centeredness]) or obedience (devotion to God Himself and His purposes) Sin leads to death Obedience leads to righteousness A Christian was a slave of sin, but obeyed (i.e. the act of faith in Christ) and was therefore delivered by the Gospel of Jesus Christ A Christian is free from sin and became a slave of righteousness Verses 19 - 22: What is true of a slave of sin? 20b: He is free in regard to righteousness. He doesn't care about God. 21a: He does shameful things, but doesn't know it (to some extent) 21b: His suppression of the reality of God ends in everlasting death 23a: His wage is death Why should a Christian present himself as a slave of righteousness for holiness? What is true of a slave of righteousness? 22a: He has been set free from sin. He lives for God and not for selfish reasons. 22b: He has become a slave of God 22c: He has his fruit to holiness 23b: He received the gift of eternal life Dear Father in heaven, thank You for Your gracious gift of Your Son, my Lord Jesus Christ, in whom I have freedom from sin and am a slave of righteousness. Father, You are showing me my sin/selfishness in particular one area of my life. Please preserve me from the paralyzing and deadly guilt cycles who so quickly creep in when my sin is on the mind. Help, therefore, to remind me much of the atoning work of Christ. And in that, please help to make myself vulnerable by serving others. Please grant me greater access into the eternal promises which are mine in Christ, so that when apparent or purposeful mistreatment happens by the people I serve, I will yet stand because my hope is in You. Grand this also for all my dear brothers and sisters who go through similar circumstances. This I pray in Your precious Son's name for the good of all people and for Your honor and glory, Amen.
Phrase
Romans 6:15-23
What then?
Shall we sin
because we are not under law
but under grace?
Certainly not!
Do you not know that to whom you present yourselves slaves to obey, you are that one’s slaves whom you obey,
whether of sin leading to death,
or of obedience leading to righteousness?
But God be thanked that though you were slaves of sin,
yet you obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine to which you were delivered.
And having been set free from sin,
you became slaves of righteousness.
I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh.
For just as you presented your members as slaves of uncleanness, and of lawlessness leading to more lawlessness,
so now present your members as slaves of righteousness for holiness.
For when you were slaves of sin,
you were free in regard to righteousness.
What fruit did you have then in the things of which you are now ashamed?
For the end of those things is death.
But now having been set free from sin,
and having become slaves of God,
you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.
For the wages of sin is death,
but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
