Notes
A New Heart and God's Spirit This passage is true for the Church. Christ cleansed His bride from ALL uncleanness and idolatry. Every believer received a new heart with new desires to please God. This means that God restores man to what He has intended him to be from the beginning. Furthermore the Christian received and is sealed with the Spirit of God. The Spirit of God is the power to walk in the newly received desires to please God. The Creator is highly above His Creation Verse 28 says: "Then...I will be your God." This implies that without God's work in man of a new heart and His Spirit, man will seek ultimate fulfillment in created things. But the regenerated heart turns to the Creator Himself who is the infinite source of all. Glory to God The context clearly emphasizes that God does that for His own holy and great names sake. Israel was over and over again unfaithful to God when they turned to idols. They have profaned His name among the people of the earth. That is why God saves them not for their sake, but for His own sake. The Israels cannot boast then in their own merit. - Let's draw a tangent her to the Christians live and remember that God saved him for His own names sake. Let's seek to rejoice in the Lord always. He is the ultimate Giver of satisfaction and fulfillment.
