Notes
*Although this text does not directly talk about our home life (the context is about receiving persecution or trials joyfully), yet, I have found it true time and again that if my family life is just a bit amiss, my response to God’s word is dull *Conversely, if we are really loving our wife, or child, or husband (real love from God, not lip service) then, Oh, how we can really rejoice in His Word! This text speaks to this. We can deceive other people, but God is brutally honest with His Word, saying, “If you wanna fake it, and go around sulking, or not listening to others, then no way will I let my Word have the precious effect it should have. I (God) need to protect my glorious word. Until you change, no entry! Sorry” James: someone who truly calls it as it is.
