This is my first solo arc so any thoughts or suggestions are welcomed. I am a little fuzzy on the need for S, P, A yet. None of practice passages in the tutorial used them, although I did. This passage is a bit long for one central idea. The first chapter has three sections: The intro (1-2) Paul writes to his spiritual son, Timothy, an apostolic 'trouble shooter,' to charge him to address the problem facing the church at Ephesus - false teachers who are probably probably elders. The problem identified and addressed. (3-11) Timothy is to remain in Ephesus to address the false teachings (1:3) and those in the body who are being swayed by the false teachers (1:6). He outlines the fruit of good (1:4d-5) and bad doctrine (1:4 c,d). The content of the false teaching is identified (1:3-4); Pauls feels the need to address the purpose of the law (1:8-11). Main idea - Dangers of false teaching My question on 8A & b is that it can be identified as an if, then clause but also an idea and explanation clause. The affects and example of Gospel Paul, using his own life example, to show the transformational power of the gospel which leads him to worship (1:12-17). Paul outlines for Timothy the way he can fight the good fight (contrary to Hymenaeus and Alexander). Main idea - The gospel, when embraced with genuine saving faith, will bring about life transformation.
