Τῇ δὲ μιᾷ τῶν σαββάτων
Mary Magdalen e came to the tomb
Μαρία ἡ Μαγδαληνὴ ἔρχεται
early, while it was still dark,
πρωῒ σκοτίας ἔτι οὔσης εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον
and saw that f the stone had been taken away from the tomb.
καὶ βλέπει τὸν λίθον ἠρμένον ἐκ τοῦ μνημείου.
So she ran and went to Simon Peter and
τρέχει οὖν καὶ ἔρχεται πρὸς Σίμωνα Πέτρον καὶ
the other disciple , g the one whom Jesus loved,
πρὸς τὸν ἄλλον μαθητὴν ὃν ἐφίλει ὁ Ἰησοῦς
and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb,
καὶ λέγει αὐτοῖς• ἦραν τὸν κύριον ἐκ τοῦ μνημείου
and h we do not know where they have laid him.”
καὶ οὐκ οἴδαμεν ποῦ ἔθηκαν αὐτόν.
i So Peter went out with the other disciple ,
Ἐξῆλθεν οὖν ὁ Πέτρος καὶ ὁ ἄλλος μαθητὴς
and they were going toward the tomb.
καὶ ἤρχοντο εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον.
Both of them were running together,
ἔτρεχον δὲ οἱ δύο ὁμοῦ•
but the other disciple outran Peter
καὶ ὁ ἄλλος μαθητὴς προέδραμεν τάχιον τοῦ Πέτρου
and reached the tomb first .
καὶ ἦλθεν πρῶτος εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον,
And stooping to look in, he saw j the linen cloths lying there,
καὶ παρακύψας βλέπει κείμενα τὰ ὀθόνια,
but he did not go in.
οὐ μέντοι εἰσῆλθεν.
Then Simon Peter came , following him,
ἔρχεται οὖν καὶ Σίμων Πέτρος ἀκολουθῶν αὐτῷ
and went into the tomb .
καὶ εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον,
He saw the linen cloths lying there,
καὶ θεωρεῖ τὰ ὀθόνια κείμενα,
and k the face cloth, which had been on Jesus’ 1 head,
καὶ τὸ σουδάριον, ὃ ἦν ἐπὶ τῆς κεφαλῆς αὐτοῦ,
not lying with the linen cloths
οὐ μετὰ τῶν ὀθονίων κείμενον
but folded up in a place by itself.
ἀλλὰ χωρὶς ἐντετυλιγμένον εἰς ἕνα τόπον.
Then the other disciple ,
τότε οὖν εἰσῆλθεν καὶ ὁ ἄλλος μαθητὴς
l who had reached the tomb first,
ὁ ἐλθὼν πρῶτος
also went in ,
εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον
and he saw
καὶ εἶδεν
and believed ;
καὶ ἐπίστευσεν•
for as yet m they did not understand the Scripture ,
οὐδέπω γὰρ ᾔδεισαν τὴν γραφὴν
n that he must rise from the dead.
ὅτι δεῖ αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν ἀναστῆναι.
Then the disciples went bac k to their homes .
ἀπῆλθον οὖν πάλιν πρὸς αὐτοὺς οἱ μαθηταί.
But Mary stood weeping outside the tomb,
Μαρία δὲ εἱστήκει πρὸς τῷ μνημείῳ ἔξω κλαίουσα.
and as she wept
ὡς οὖν ἔκλαιεν,
she stooped to look into the tomb .
παρέκυψεν εἰς τὸ μνημεῖον
And o she saw p two angels in white,
καὶ θεωρεῖ δύο ἀγγέλους ἐν λευκοῖς
sitting where the body of Jesus had lain ,
καθεζομένους, ὅπου ἔκειτο τὸ σῶμα τοῦ Ἰησοῦ.
one at the head and one at the feet.
ἕνα πρὸς τῇ κεφαλῇ καὶ ἕνα πρὸς τοῖς ποσίν, ὅπου ἔκειτο τὸ σῶμα τοῦ Ἰησοῦ.
They said to her, q “Woman, why are you weeping?”
καὶ λέγουσιν αὐτῇ ἐκεῖνοι• γύναι, τί κλαίεις;
She said to them, r “ They have taken away my Lord,
λέγει αὐτοῖς ὅτι ἦραν τὸν κύριόν μου,
and I do not know where they have laid him.”
καὶ οὐκ οἶδα ποῦ ἔθηκαν αὐτόν.
Having said this, she turned around and s saw Jesus standing ,
ταῦτα εἰποῦσα ἐστράφη εἰς τὰ ὀπίσω καὶ θεωρεῖ τὸν Ἰησοῦν ἑστῶτα
t but she did not know that it was Jesus.
καὶ οὐκ ᾔδει ὅτι Ἰησοῦς ἐστιν.
Jesus said to her,
λέγει αὐτῇ Ἰησοῦς•
u “Woman, why are you weeping?
γύναι, τί κλαίεις;
v Whom are you seeking ?”
τίνα ζητεῖς;
Supposing him to be w the gardener,
ἐκείνη δοκοῦσα ὅτι ὁ κηπουρός ἐστιν
she said to him, “Sir, if you have carried him away,
λέγει αὐτῷ• κύριε, εἰ σὺ ἐβάστασας αὐτόν,
tell me where you have laid him,
εἰπέ μοι ποῦ ἔθηκας αὐτόν,
and I will take him away. ”
κἀγὼ αὐτὸν ἀρῶ.
Jesus said to her, “ Mary .”
λέγει αὐτῇ Ἰησοῦς• Μαριάμ.
She turned and said to him in Aramaic, 1 x “ Rabboni !” (which means Teacher).
στραφεῖσα ἐκείνη λέγει αὐτῷ Ἑβραϊστί• ραββουνι ὃ λέγεται διδάσκαλε.
Jesus said to her, “ Do not cling to me,
λέγει αὐτῇ Ἰησοῦς• μή μου ἅπτου,
for I have not yet ascended to the Father ;
οὔπω γὰρ ἀναβέβηκα πρὸς τὸν πατέρα•
but go to y my brothers and say to them,
πορεύου δὲ πρὸς τοὺς ἀδελφούς μου καὶ εἰπὲ αὐτοῖς•
z ‘ I am ascending to my Father and your Father,
ἀναβαίνω πρὸς τὸν πατέρα μου καὶ πατέρα ὑμῶν
to a my God and your God.’”
καὶ θεόν μου καὶ θεὸν ὑμῶν.
Mary Magdalene b went and announced to the disciples,
ἔρχεται Μαριὰμ ἡ Μαγδαληνὴ ἀγγέλλουσα τοῖς μαθηταῖς
“I have seen the Lord ”—
ὅτι ἑώρακα τὸν κύριον, καὶ ταῦτα εἶπεν αὐτῇ.
and that he had said t hese things to her.
Here is my arc; have not come up wiht exegetical idea yet.
