Mercy was extended to all ten lepers but only the least likely one was actually saved by it. Joyful, loud, worship is the expected response to Gods mercy(See Ps 30:10-12). The Jews, the religious ones, did not respond in worship and joy. They only cared about their physical needs and saw no correlation to their need to be spirtually cleanes expcept the outsider, the one who would be looked down upon by a sel righteous Jew. The Samaritan returned to Jesus because he recognized the healing was from God. Taht is why he glorified God with a loud voice (joy and excitement); thanking him; and confidently falling at his feet (contrast to standing at a distance 12c). He ultimately wanted to wroship and adore the one who had extended mercy to him. He wanted Jesus. Jesus is bent on getting to Jeruslaem to face his destiny yet does not lose sight of needs of people on the way, even thought he is facing increasing hostility by the Pharisees. Their cleansing (aorist passive; god was the one who healed) is their healing physically but also socailly and religiously. They would be welcomed back into the community - socially and religiously. They were able to retrun to 'normal life.' Faith is taking Jesus at his word and trusting him enough to obey him. They were healed as they obeyed him. Quesitons: Not sure where he is coming from. Samaria nad Galilee are East and west while road to Jerusalem is north nad south. He may have been meandering his way down to Jerusalem.

On the way to Jerusalem
he was passing along between Samaria and Galilee.
And as he entered a village,
he was met by ten lepers,
who stood at a distance
locative
and lifted up their voices, saying,
"Jesus, Master, have mercy on us."
When he saw them he said to them,
"Go and show yourselves to the priests."
And as they went they were cleansed.

Then one of them, when he saw that he was healed, turned back, praising God with a loud voice;
and he fell on his face at Jesus' feet, giving him thanks.
Now he was a Samaritan.
ἀποκριθεὶς δὲ ὁ Ἰησοῦς εἶπεν· οὐχὶ οἱ δέκα ἐκαθαρίσθησαν;
Then Jesus answered, "Were not ten cleansed?
οἱ ἐννέα ποῦ;
Where are the nine?
progression
Was no one found to return and give praise to God
εἰ μὴ ὁ ἀλλογενὴς οὗτος;
except this foreigner?"
And he said to him, "Rise and go your way;
your faith has made you well."
