Ultimately, the central phrase in the entire passage states that "the Lord is near". Without going into great detail here, this phrase or concept rather, is the underlying supposition that governs the commands that precede and the commands that follow. We are called to rejoice and be of a certain disposition in regards to all men. Furthermore, there should be no anxiety in our approach to life. If we refuse to fret but rather constantly make our appeal to God for everything we need, we will find that the peace of this same Lord is present with us and shields us from the anxiety so prevalent in the world.
