1 Thessalonians 5:1-11
Now concerning w the times and the seasons, brothers, 1
Brothers and sisters, when considering the period or span of time when the Lord will return
x you have no need to have anything written to you.
you are fully aware of the fact of His return, no there is no need to have to write anything to you.
For you yourselves are fully aware that y the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
You are fully cognizant of the fact that the Lord's return will happen when not expected, like a housebreaker entering a home in the cover of night.
While people are saying, “There is peace and security,”
People will be comfortable, at ease, saying " All is good, we are safe, relax"
then z sudden destruction will come upon them a as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman,
then, as labor pains come upon an expecting mother, calamity will overtake them,
and they will not escape.
and running away and hiding is not a possibility, they will not get away.
But you b are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief.
But you are not in ignorance of his return, brothers, for the moment of the Lord's return to catch you unexpectedly.
For you are all c children 1 of light, children of the day.
For you have understanding of spiritual things, you are not in ignorance, you have been enlightened to the realities of our Lord and you know his return is certain.
We are not of the night or of the darkness .
Brothers, are not without knowledge of the truth, we are not blind.
So then d let us not sleep , as others do,
So then , let us not become indifferent, lethargic, uncaring, as the others do,
but let us e keep awake and f be sober.
but let us who know the truth, hold to this truth, stay alert and keep watching, and keep a disciplined mind and think clearly.
For those who sleep, sleep at night,
Those who sleep , do so at night,
and those who get drunk, g are drunk at night.
and those who get intoxicated, do so at night.
But since we belong to the day, let us be sober,
But since we live in the brightness of the daytime, let us keep a clear head and think correctly,
h having put on the breastplate of i faith and love,
having dressed in body armor of faith and love,
and for a helmet the hope of salvation.
and for protective head gear the hope of salvation.
For God has not destined us for j wrath,
God's fierce anger is for those who have rejected his Son, who have embraced the darkness rather than the light, he has not intended us for wrath,
but k to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
He has intended us to gain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,
l who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him.
who endured the cross and died for us so that whether we are alive or dead we might live in his presence eternally.
Therefore encourage one another
In light of this knowledge, inspire one another, motivate one another
and build one another up,
and strengthen one another,
just as you are doing.
even as you are presently doing.
Who are " people " ? The ungodly, those who have rejected the Gospel.
Who are " you " ? Believers in Christ, who received the light of the Gospel.
