Romans 1:8-17
esv
mine
First, p I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you,
To begin with, I am thankful and praise God for you all in Rome
q because your faith is proclaimed in all the world.
because everyone everywhere talks about the worth of your belief.
ground
r For God is my witness,
Further , God will testify to the following fact,
s whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son,
that is , the God whom I serve in spirit and truth by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus,
ideaexplanation
t that without ceasing I mention you always in my prayers,
He will testify that I never stop praying for you
actionresult
asking that somehow u by God’s will I may now at last succeed in coming to you.
for the purpose of seeing you face to face, as has been my desire for some time.
For v I long to see you,
For it is my earnest desire to come to you
that I may impart to you some spiritual gift
in order to give you spiritual gifts
to strengthen you—
so that your faith may be made firmer;
actionpurpose
that is, that we may be mutually encouraged
that is to say , that I may encourage you and you may encourage me
w by each other’s faith, both yours and mine.
through our mutual faith.
actionmanner
I do not want you to be unaware, brothers, 1
That is to say , understand this:
that x I have often intended to come to you
I have wanted to come to you for some time now,
(but y thus far have been prevented),
but have been unable to until now,
concessive
in order that I may reap some z harvest among you as well as among the rest of the Gentiles.
for the purpose of obtaining fruit among you and others.
a I am under obligation both to Greeks and to b barbarians, 1 both to the wise and to the foolish.
For I am bound by the Gospel to preach to all people regardless of their heritage or intellect.
So I am eager to preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.
Therefore I am looking forward and excited at the prospect of preaching the Gospel to you in Rome.
For d I am not ashamed of the gospel,
For I am not ashamed to preach the Gospel fully,
for it is e the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes,
because it is the Father's powerful work of salvation for anyone who calls on Jesus' name,
to the Jew f first
first for the Jews
and also to g the Greek.
and then for the Greek also.
progression
For in it h the righteousness of God is revealed i from faith for faith, 1
Additionally it is the Father's righteousness revealed from the source of faith to the purpose of faith,
j as it is written,
which we know because it is written in the Hebrew Scriptures:
“The righteous shall live by faith.” 2
"the righteous walk according to faith in God."
