Central Idea Jesus appoints the twelve disciples and then gives them instructions to go out and preach in Israel. Explanations Verses 2-4 only has one proposition of who the disciples are, but there is one dependent clause describing who Judas Iscariot was. The major balance in the pericope seems to be the naming of the disciples, and then the instructions for them as they are sent out. The overall feel of the instructions seems to be a series of instructions, though some of the instructions have some progressions within them. Insights The instructions that Jesus gave to the disciples that he sent out was as series, but there is some progression of instruction within that series.

Jesus summoned His twelve disciples
ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς ἐξουσίαν πνευμάτων ἀκαθάρτων
