Means of 11a
For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.
For even as the body is one and is having many members/parts,
Explanation #2 of 4-7
but all (are) the members of the body, although being many is one body,
as also (is) the Christ;
Pattern of 12b
For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body— Jews or Greeks, slaves or free— and all were made to drink of one Spirit.
for also in one Spirit we all were baptized into one body,

whether Jews or Greeks

Explanation #3 of 4-7
If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
If the foot says,
Condition of 15c
"Because I am not (the) hand, I am not (a member) from the body,"
οὐ παρὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σώματος;
Is it (really) not from the body because of this (saying)?
Argument #1 for 14
And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” that would not make it any less a part of the body.
and if the ear says,
Condition of 16c
"Because I am not (the) eye, I am not from the body,"
οὐ παρὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ σώματος;
Is it (really) not from the body because of this (saying)?
Alternative to 15c
If the whole body were an eye, where would be the sense of hearing? If the whole body were an ear, where would be the sense of smell?
εἰ ὅλον τὸ σῶμα ὀφθαλμός, ποῦ ἡ ἀκοή;
If the whole body (is) (the) eye, where is the hearing?
Argument #2 for 14
εἰ ὅλον ἀκοή, ποῦ ἡ ὄσφρησις;

Reinforcing 14; Inference from 15-17

εἰ δὲ ἦν τὰ πάντα ἓν μέλος, ποῦ τὸ σῶμα;
and if every (single) one is one member, where is the body?
As it is, there are many parts, yet one body.
But now (there are) many members, and one body.
Explanation #4 of 4-7
The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.”
And the eye is not able to say to the hand:
Illustrations of 20
"I am having no need of you,"
or again the head to the feet:
"I am having no need of you."
On the contrary, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable,
But the members who are seeming to be weak of the same body is more necessary,
Arguments for 20
and on those parts of the body that we think less honorable we bestow the greater honor, and our unpresentable parts are treated with greater modesty,
and the members of the body seems to be without honor - we are placing to them more honor,
and our unseemly (members) have more presentability,
which our more presentable parts do not require. But God has so composed the body, giving greater honor to the part that lacked it,
but our prominent (bodies) are not having a need (for it).
But God united the body, giving more honor to the one that lacks (it),
Explanation of 23-24a
that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another.
in order that there would be no division in the body
Purpose of 24b
but the members would care the same (way) for one another.
Contrast of 25a
If one member suffers, all suffer together; if one member is honored, all rejoice together.
And whether one member is suffering, all the members are suffering with (it);
Manifestation #1 of 25b
or one member is glorying, all the members are rejoicing with (it).
Manifestation #2 of 25b
Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it.
Now you yourselves are the body of Christ and a member from parts.
Application of 8-26
And God has appointed in the church first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helping, administrating, and various kinds of tongues.

then powers, then healing gifts, helps, administration, kinds of languages.
Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Do all work miracles?
μὴ πάντες ἀπόστολοι; μὴ πάντες προφῆται; μὴ πάντες διδάσκαλοι; μὴ πάντες δυνάμεις;
All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not (workers) of power, are they?
Argumentation for 28
Do all possess gifts of healing? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?
μὴ πάντες χαρίσματα ἔχουσιν ἰαμάτων; μὴ πάντες γλώσσαις λαλοῦσιν; μὴ πάντες διερμηνεύουσιν;
All are not having gifts of healings, are they? All are not speaking languages, are they? All are not interpreting, are they?
But earnestly desire the higher gifts. And I will show you a still more excellent way.
But be zealous (for) the greater gifts.
Command
And I will still show you a superior way.
