Remember within a narrative works spoken are a specific literary device within the narrative. The words themselves break the flow of "kai" and are therefore a marked discourse. What is spoken is many times the main emphasis of that portion of text.

Mark 1:9-13
What are "those days" referring to? When John appeared in 1:4-8 declaring a baptism of repentance and declaring that a mighty and worth one was coming.
This is the only speech heard in these verses and therefore has significant bearing on this text. It is very significant that the Father is not talking to those around but to Jesus himself. The Father is confirming the identity of Jesus and his pleasure in him. Shenk believes this was partly because of Jesus's humanity and his progressive understanding of his own identity. A great resource on the humanity of Jesus is Ware's article "The Man Christ Jesus: Theological Reflections on the Humanity of Christ."
It is significant that Mark identifies the temptation of Jesus but not his victory. Why? Also why does Mark describe him being with the wild animals and the angels being with him? The angels minister in Matt 4:11 but there is no mention of wild animals in Matthew or Luke or John nor angels in Luke or John. Why? I think this section is about revealing that under the providence of God and leading of the Holy Spirit, Jesus's battle against the powers of darkness has begun and will ultimately be observed until the victory of death. This passage highlights a reoccurring reality in the Mark - we will see Jesus square off with the powers of darkness. Biblical Theologically - this is where I would tap into the overarching picture of God's rule and battle over evil and where that is going in Jesus and in his final victory.
