and u to keep oneself v unstained from the world.
(2) and guard himself from the corruption of the world.
According to our Lord Jesus out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. It's not what goes into a man that defiles him but what comes out. Matt 15:10-20 So, if a man has no control over what comes out of his mouth then it's fair to reason that what comes out of his mouth is corrupt talk. We know this because according to Romans 3 all men are wicked and unrighteous. In fact Paul describes our mouths specifically as an open grave, deceitful, containing the venom of asps, and filled with curses and bitterness. And the corrupt talk that comes out of his mouth proves that his heart is corrupt. Yet despite the corrupt talk those who walk with an impure faith deceive themselves into believing that their faith will lead them to God. Not realizing that their false faith is leading them straight to the lake of fire. Meaning his confession of faith is worthless because he is still corrupt on the inside. His false faith does not justify him before God. On the other hand, pure religion is shown by first a heart of service. Matt 20:26-28 Our true faith is displayed by humbling ourselves to serve the weak, needy, and unfortunate. Seeking to serve not to be served. However, those with impure faith can also serve others so what's the difference? The difference is in the heart and we see this because James says that the second way we show pure faith is by keeping ourselves unstained by the world. The world is corrupt with an anti God mindset. The world seeks to do things out of self exaltation and self love not out of a heart to please God. So, even in doing acts of service it is of no value because it is not done with the ultimate end in mind. Romans 14:23 When we guard ourselves from the impurity of this world we guard ourselves from that mindset and we serve not to honor self but to honor God. Therefore, our service comes from pure hearts with pure motives and is pleasing to God.
