-Once again we find the Lord teaching His disciples about His death and resurrection. Why all the stress on this matter, one could say. Well, I think because on Jesus’ death and resurrection rest the heart of the gospel. If He wants something to stay on His disciples minds after He’s gone is this: He will die but surely He will rise again. His disciples were going to pass through a test of fire, but Jesus wanted them to trust in Him, the unshakeable rock of their salvation. Even dying and entering the grounds of death He would be their hope and comfort because He is the all powerful Savior who is able to break the chains of the reign of death and rise from the dead. And even while He was covered by the darkness of death He was present with His disciples by the all-sufficient promise of His resurrection, even though they did not understand it at that time.
