-Verse 1 seems to be an expression of Christ’s vision of the times. A thousand years is like a second for Him because He is eternal. With that vision in mind He says to His disciples this declaration, which is based on the ground that the kingdom of God has been started to descend with Jesus, but one day will come with all its power. -Jesus after speaking of his death and resurrection no long ago, now illustrates to His three disciples Peter, James and John His glory and the majesty of the Don of Man He had with His Father that has been veiled to their eyes temporarily, but someday they will see, taste and experience with glorified bodies, just like their Master. -Full of fear, not knowing what to do—a perfect situation to keep silence and be still, watch and adore—Peter outburst in silliness, just as we do so many times, . “Let us make three tents, one for you and one for Moses an one for Elijah”—he said. Did they need tents or anything from the disciples? I don’t think so. We are to learn sometimes to be still and know that He is God. Not our plans, not our thoughts, not our abilities, not our efforts. HE IS GOD. Make us trust you, Jesus. -The Father condescended to the frightened disciples to confirm His only purpose in bringing down His Son. Because of His pleasure. He wants His beloved Son to be believed on, make much of, so He can be glorified as the Just who justifies sinners through His death and resurrection. Thank you God because you crushed your Son, your beloved Son, so we may live.
