Greatness in God's eyes

-Immediately alter Jesus told the disciples for a third time about His sufferings, death and resurrection, in James and John’s minds it meant near the end, they boldly decided to ask Jesus what was rooted in their hearts, that is the aspiration of greatness. They said, “Grant us to sit at our right and left hand, in your glory.” Their petition was not to be near Jesus, but to be great. Their aim was not Jesus but greatness. -Jesus replied to their compliance directing their attention to God’s sovereignty and right to choose whomever He pleases to seat at high places. -But the most important message is Jesus’ view of greatness. The world view of greatness is defined by being lord over people, but God’s view of greatness is defined by service. To be great in God’s eyes you have to lay down your own life, views and desires of greatness. By being humble in serving others just as the Son of God came to do, you are gaining your life, seeing with God’s eyes and doing what you came to do. Wanting to be first will end up being slave. -Lord Jesus, Son of God, who came not to be served but to serve, and to give your life as a ransom for many, I plea with you, make me your servant, and being your servant, serve the ones you gave your life as a ransom.
