-Here are the Sadducees trying to trap Jesus again. The Pharisees tried to before, but they couldn’t. Now these men, who do say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus asking an overstated question. -The most important thing in the passage is the ground Jesus uses to prove these men that in fact there is resurrection and the existence of eternal life. Without that we Christians, have nothing. Our entire hope is based on the resurrection of Christ, our bodies, and the life that await for us in eternity. The ground is recorded in verses 25 in which Jesus speaks of the resurrection as a fact when He says, “For when they rise from the dead…” Jesus’ words are enough for me to believe on the resurrection, because He indeed resurrected from the dead later on. And on top of that Jesus gives them a reason found in verses 26-27 saying that God revealed himself to Moses saying, “I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” By the time God spoke to Moses, the three patriarchs were dead, but actually they were not dead because they were living with God. God is no God of the dead, but of the living, as verse 27 affirms. -To disbelieve the resurrection of the dead is to lack knowledge of the Scriptures and to deny God’s power. O God, let me trust your word and your promise that someday You will raise me from the dead to live a life of joy forever with You.

And Sadducees came to him,
Y algunos saduceos
who say that there is no resurrection.
ideaexplanation
And they asked him a question, saying,
y le preguntaban, diciendo:
"Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife, but leaves no child,
Maestro, Moisés nos dejó escrito: SI EL HERMANO DE ALGUNO MUERE y deja mujer Y NO DEJA HIJO,
the man must take the widow and raise up offspring for his brother.
que SU HERMANO TOME LA MUJER Y LEVANTE DESCENDENCIA A SU HERMANO.
conditional
There were seven brothers;
Hubo siete hermanos;
the first took a wife, and when he died left no offspring.
And the second took her, and died, leaving no offspring.
Y el segundo la tomó, y murió sin dejar descendencia;
And the third likewise.
y asimismo el tercero;
And the seven left no offspring.
y así los siete, sin dejar descendencia.
Last of all the woman also died.
Y por último murió también la mujer.
In the resurrection, when they rise again, whose wife will she be?
For the seven had her as wife."
Pues los siete la tuvieron por mujer.
Jesus said to them, "Is this not the reason you are wrong,
because you know neither the Scriptures nor the power of God?
For when they rise from the dead,
Porque cuando resuciten de entre los muertos,
they neither marry nor are given in marriage,
but are like angels in heaven.
ground
And as for the dead being raised, have you not read in the book of Moses,
in the passage about the bush,
en el pasaje sobre la zarza ardiendo,
how God spoke to him, saying, 'I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'?
cómo Dios le habló, diciendo: "YO SOY EL DIOS DE ABRAHAM, Y EL DIOS DE ISAAC, Y EL DIOS DE JACOB"?
He is not God of the dead,
El no es Dios de muertos,
but of the living.
sino de vivos;
You are quite wrong."
vosotros estáis muy equivocados.
