-Jesus began to explain plainly what He had to suffer by the elders, chief priests and scribes in order to be killed and rise again. This brings to light the overflowing compassion of our Lord for His disciples. He plainly told them His plan so they would not be confused, like a sheep without a shepherd. Though very little did their disciples understand about this great plan. -The respond of one of the disciples, Peter, the outspoken, used by the devil, tried to convince Jesus to back off from “His insanity.” He took the Lord aside to tell Him how foolish His plan was. His heart was so proud by that time that He felt he could give good advice to the source of wisdom. How prideful and deceitful our heart is, desperately sick, who can understand it? O Lord, make us humble before you. Let us acknowledge your wise, all-knowing power and trust in it. -Jesus responded him according to his foolishness. He called him Satan because by rebuking Jesus he was fulfilling the evil’s purposes. How often we are easily seduced by the devil to fulfill his purposes. A few verses before this recount, Jesus had called Peter a rock, now He is calling him Satan. What happened? Men are weak and subjected to err easily. But the name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe. O Lord, make us run into you, for we are desperately sick and wicked. -The ground Satan uses for his purposes is our settled minds on the things of man. Setting our minds on the things of God would be a wall that protects us from his attacks. Our minds and hearts are darkened by our lust after the things of this world. May God give us His light to break the dominion of things over us.
