-The disciples, as many men, despise weakness, learners, beginners, just as children are. This attitude, I believe, comes from the same root of wanting greatness. But we see greatness in a very different perspective of God. To find greatness, in God’s eyes, we should seek to be humble, to serve, not to despise but to receive the weak, exactly the opposite of how we believe we become great. Being around rich and important people would not make you great. Being around the most rich and important person who came to be around poor, sick and sinners will make you great, because as Him, you will love to be around weak people. -Jesus defends children, orphans, widows, sick and weak people because He wants to be praised as the Defender, Protector and Benefactor of His creatures. Instead, we like to oppress the weak, to mistreat children and orphans, to despise poor, sick and ancient people. And this attitude comes from the root of pride of our hearts. We consider ourselves great and look for more greatness; we despise others because we consider us above them. -Our solution is to believe in Christ, to believe we will be great if we die to ourselves and strive for humbleness. There, when we get to the bottom—and I think that’s an impossible aim for man nevertheless we ought to strive for it—of that virtue, we will be exalted by El Elion. As Matt Chandler said, “Quit seeing people as servants of your existence; love them as souls that need reconciliation.” Oh, God, make us humble; make us to believe in Your Son.
