Central Idea: Paul prays for the Ephesians that God would deepen their knowledge of Christ and His salvation. v11 - The first "according to" is specifc and the second is general or inclusive of the first. He works predestination according to His purpose because and just as He works ALL things according to His purpose. v16 - Because of your faith and love I don't cease to give thanks ... specifically in a prayer for an even deeper knowledge of Him. v16ff - This could be an Id/Exp. But I want to highlight that the place of his thanksgiving is prayer. Thus, the nature of his thanksgiving is praise. It is evident then that the purpose of verse 12 is accomplished in the prayers of thanksgiving of Paul.

For this reason, because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus
and your love toward all the saints,
I do not cease to give thanks for you,
