Παῦλος ἀπόστολος Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ διὰ θελήματος θεοῦ τοῖς ἁγίοις τοῖς οὖσιν [ἐν Ἐφέσῳ] καὶ πιστοῖς ἐν Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ,
Paul, a an apostle of Christ Jesus b by the will of God, To the saints who are in Ephesus, and c are faithful 1 in Christ Jesus:
χάρις ὑμῖν καὶ εἰρήνη ἀπὸ θεοῦ πατρὸς ἡμῶν καὶ κυρίου Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ.
d Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Εὐλογητὸς ὁ θεὸς καὶ πατὴρ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, ὁ εὐλογήσας ἡμᾶς ἐν πάσῃ εὐλογίᾳ πνευματικῇ ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις ἐν Χριστῷ,
e Blessed be f the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing g in the heavenly places,
καθὼς ἐξελέξατο ἡμᾶς ἐν αὐτῷ πρὸ καταβολῆς κόσμου εἶναι ἡμᾶς ἁγίους καὶ ἀμώμους κατενώπιον αὐτοῦ ἐν ἀγάπῃ,
h even as he i chose us in him j before the foundation of the world, that we should be k holy and blameless before him. In love
προορίσας ἡμᾶς εἰς υἱοθεσίαν διὰ Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ εἰς αὐτόν, κατὰ τὴν εὐδοκίαν τοῦ θελήματος αὐτοῦ,
l he predestined us 1 for m adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, n according to the purpose of his will,
εἰς ἔπαινον δόξης τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ ἧς ἐχαρίτωσεν ἡμᾶς ἐν τῷ ἠγαπημένῳ.
o to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in p the Beloved.
Ἐν ᾧ ἔχομεν τὴν ἀπολύτρωσιν

διὰ τοῦ αἵματος αὐτοῦ,
s through his blood,
τὴν ἄφεσιν τῶν παραπτωμάτων,
t the forgiveness of our trespasses,
κατὰ τὸ πλοῦτος τῆς χάριτος αὐτοῦ
u according to the riches of his grace,
ἧς ἐπερίσσευσεν εἰς ἡμᾶς,
which he lavished upon us,
ἐν πάσῃ σοφίᾳ καὶ φρονήσει,
in all wisdom and insight
γνωρίσας ἡμῖν τὸ μυστήριον τοῦ θελήματος αὐτοῦ,

κατὰ τὴν εὐδοκίαν αὐτοῦ

ἣν προέθετο ἐν αὐτῷ

εἰς οἰκονομίαν τοῦ πληρώματος τῶν καιρῶν,
as a plan for x the fullness of time,
ἀνακεφαλαιώσασθαι τὰ πάντα ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ,
y to unite all things in him,
τὰ ἐπὶ τοῖς οὐρανοῖς
things in heaven
καὶ τὰ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς ἐν αὐτῷ.
and things on earth.
Ἐν ᾧ καὶ ἐκληρώθημεν
In him we have obtained z an inheritance,

κατὰ πρόθεσιν τοῦ

τὰ πάντα ἐνεργοῦντος
of him who works all things
κατὰ τὴν βουλὴν τοῦ θελήματος αὐτοῦ
according to c the counsel of his will,
εἰς τὸ εἶναι ἡμᾶς εἰς ἔπαινον δόξης αὐτοῦ τοὺς προηλπικότας ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ.
so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be d to the praise of his glory.
Ἐν ᾧ καὶ ὑμεῖς
In him you also,
ἀκούσαντες τὸν λόγον τῆς ἀληθείας,
when you heard e the word of truth,
τὸ εὐαγγέλιον τῆς σωτηρίας ὑμῶν,
the gospel of your salvation,
ἐν ᾧ καὶ πιστεύσαντες
and believed in him,
ἐσφραγίσθητε τῷ πνεύματι τῆς ἐπαγγελίας τῷ ἁγίῳ,
f were sealed with the g promised Holy Spirit,
ὅ ἐστιν ἀρραβὼν τῆς κληρονομίας ἡμῶν,
who is h the guarantee 1 of our i inheritance
εἰς ἀπολύτρωσιν τῆς περιποιήσεως,
until j we acquire k possession of it, 2
εἰς ἔπαινον τῆς δόξης αὐτοῦ.
l to the praise of his glory.
Διὰ τοῦτο κἀγὼ ἀκούσας τὴν καθʼ ὑμᾶς πίστιν ἐν τῷ κυρίῳ Ἰησοῦ καὶ τὴν ἀγάπην τὴν εἰς πάντας τοὺς ἁγίους
For this reason, m because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love 1 toward all the saints,
οὐ παύομαι εὐχαριστῶν ὑπὲρ ὑμῶν μνείαν ποιούμενος ἐπὶ τῶν προσευχῶν μου,
I n do not cease to give thanks for you, o remembering you in my prayers,
ἵνα ὁ θεὸς τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν Ἰησοῦ Χριστοῦ, ὁ πατὴρ τῆς δόξης, δώῃ ὑμῖν πνεῦμα σοφίας καὶ ἀποκαλύψεως ἐν ἐπιγνώσει αὐτοῦ,
that p the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, q may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him,
πεφωτισμένους τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς τῆς καρδίας [ὑμῶν] εἰς τὸ εἰδέναι ὑμᾶς τίς ἐστιν ἡ ἐλπὶς τῆς κλήσεως αὐτοῦ, τίς ὁ πλοῦτος τῆς δόξης τῆς κληρονομίας αὐτοῦ ἐν τοῖς ἁγίοις,
r having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is s the hope to which he has called you, what are t the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
καὶ τί τὸ ὑπερβάλλον μέγεθος τῆς δυνάμεως αὐτοῦ εἰς ἡμᾶς τοὺς πιστεύοντας κατὰ τὴν ἐνέργειαν τοῦ κράτους τῆς ἰσχύος αὐτοῦ.
and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, u according to the working of v his great might
Ἣν ἐνήργησεν ἐν τῷ Χριστῷ ἐγείρας αὐτὸν ἐκ νεκρῶν καὶ καθίσας ἐν δεξιᾷ αὐτοῦ ἐν τοῖς ἐπουρανίοις
that he worked in Christ w when he raised him from the dead and x seated him at his right hand y in the heavenly places,
ὑπεράνω πάσης ἀρχῆς καὶ ἐξουσίας καὶ δυνάμεως καὶ κυριότητος καὶ παντὸς ὀνόματος ὀνομαζομένου, οὐ μόνον ἐν τῷ αἰῶνι τούτῳ ἀλλὰ καὶ ἐν τῷ μέλλοντι•
z far above a all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above b every name that is named, not only in c this age but also in the one to come.
καὶ πάντα ὑπέταξεν ὑπὸ τοὺς πόδας αὐτοῦ καὶ αὐτὸν ἔδωκεν κεφαλὴν ὑπὲρ πάντα τῇ ἐκκλησίᾳ,
And d he put all things under his feet and gave him as e head over all things to the church,
ἥτις ἐστὶν τὸ σῶμα αὐτοῦ, τὸ πλήρωμα τοῦ τὰ πάντα ἐν πᾶσιν πληρουμένου.
f which is his body, g the fullness of him h who fills i all in all.
Action/means relationship here. Hearing and believing in God is the means by which God seals his saints with the Holy Spirit.
