NT
1 Peter 4:7-12
esv
The end of all things is at hand;
therefore be self- controlled and sober- minded
for the sake of your prayers.
Above all, keep loving one another earnestly,
since love covers a multitude of sins.
Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.
As each has received a gift,
use it to serve one another,
as good stewards of God’s varied grace:
whoever speaks,
as one who speaks oracles of God;
whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—
in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.
To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
Level #7: Therefore, let us all respond by joyfully ascribing glory and power to God and to Jesus Christ forever and ever. Amen.
Level #6: The goal of sober, prayerful love and mutual ministry in reliance on God's power is that God be glorified through Jesus Christ.
Level #5: A great aim of your sober prayerfulness is that you have an earnest love for each other in the family of God, expressed in cheerful hospitality, and servant-hearted stewardship of God's grace in the use of your spiritual gifts for each other.
Level #4: One of first aims of this sober alertness is to keep the lines of prayer open and joyful and confident in the supplies of God's help.
Level #3: Because of this eschatological urgency, therefore keep a sound mind and be soberly alert to all that God is, and what he is doing.
Level #2: The Context for the exercise of this love is the end of history, which has approached in the coming of the Messiah at the end of the age.
Level #1: Genuine, humble love is the God-given grace to pass over many of the sins of brothers and sisters, and to treat them as not destroying the relationship.

Hi pastor Piper. Could you briefly explain what "level" means? I see you've broken the passage into levels, and I'm not sure what that means. Thank you.
