I rejoiced in the Lord greatly
because now at length you flourished again with respect to having a mindset on our behalf,
the reason for saying your good will sprouted only lately again is that even though you had such a mindset,
neverthless you had no opportunity.
concessive
ground
The reason I commend you for your revived generosity to me is not that I am speaking of being in need,
for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content.
so with the result that I know how to be brought low (with contment),
and I know how to abound (with contentment)
negativepositive
actionresult
Another way to say I have "learned" to be content and so "know" how, is to say in any and every circumstance, I have learned the secret of being satisfied
and I have learned the secret of hungering ,
To say it still another way: I have learned the secret of abounding.
and I have learned the secret of lacking .
ideaexplanation
So that I can do all things through him who strengthens me.
Nevertheless you did well
In that you shared my trouble.
