There was a man from the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
He came to him at night and said to him,
"Rabbi, we know that you have come from God as a teacher,
for no one is able to do these things which you do
if God is not with him."

Jesus answered and said to him,
"Amen, amen, I say to you:
if someone is not born again/from above,
he is not able to see the kingdom of God."

Nicodemus said to him,
πῶς δύναται ἄνθρωπος γεννηθῆναι γέρων ὤν;
"How is a man who is old able to be born again?
μὴ δύναται εἰς τὴν κοιλίαν τῆς μητρὸς αὐτοῦ δεύτερον εἰσελθεῖν καὶ γεννηθῆναι;
Can he enter his mother's womb a second time and be born?"
Jesus answered,
"Amen, amen, I say to you:
if someone is not born from water and Spirit,
he is not able to enter into the kingdom of God.
Those born from flesh are flesh,
and those born from Spirit are spirit.
Do not marvel that I said to you, 'It is necessary for you to be born again/from above.'
inference
The wind blows wherever he wants,
and you hear his sound,
but you do not know from where he comes or to where he goes -
this is the way it is for all who are born from the Spirit."

Nicodemus answered and said to him,
πῶς δύναται ταῦτα γενέσθαι;
"How can these things happen?"
Jesus answered and said to him,
σὺ εἶ ὁ διδάσκαλος τοῦ Ἰσραὴλ καὶ ταῦτα οὐ γινώσκεις;
"How are you a teacher of Israel and you do not know these things?
Amen, amen, I say to you that
we know of what we speak,
and we see that which we testify about,
and y'all do not receive our testimony.
If I have told y'all of earthly things and y'all do not believe,
πῶς ἐὰν εἴπω ὑμῖν τὰ ἐπουράνια πιστεύσετε;
how will y'all believe if I tell y'all of heavenly things?
And no one has ascended into heaven
except he who descended from heaven,
the Son of Man.
concessive
And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,
in this way it is necessary for the Son of Man to be lifted up,
so that all those who believe in him may have eternal life.
actionpurpose
For God loved the world in this way:
that he gave his only begotten Son
actionmanner
so that all those who believe in him may not perish,
but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world
so that he might condemn the world,
but so that the world might be saved through him.
Those who believe in him are not condemned;
but those who do not believe have been condemned already
because they have not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
And this is the judgment:
that the Light has come into the world,
but men loved darkness rather than light,
because their works are evil;
for all the practicers of worthless things hate the Light and do not come to the Light,
so that their works may not be exposed.
But those who do what is true come to the Light,
so that it might be revealed
that their works are accomplished in God."
