And he left there and went to the region of Judea and beyond the Jordan,
and crowds gathered to him again.
[with the result that] crowds gathered to him again.

And again, he taught them as usual.

"Does the law permit a man to divorce his wife?"

He answered them, “What did Moses command you?”
ὁ δὲ ἀποκριθεὶς εἶπεν αὐτοῖς• τί ὑμῖν ἐνετείλατο Μωϋσῆς;
He answered them [answered their question with a question], "What did Moses command you?"
They said, d “Moses allowed a man to write a certificate of divorce
They answered, "Moses permitted a man to issue divorce papers
and to send her away.”

And Jesus said to them, “Because of your e hardness of heart
And Jesus responded to them, "[although] Because of your hard hearts
he wrote you this commandment.
[therefore] he wrote you this commandment.

But f from the beginning of creation,

[nevertheless] from the beginning of creation,
‘God made them g male and female.’

'God made them male and female.'

h ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother
Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother

So they are no longer two but one flesh.
[Therefore] they are no longer just two individual separate people but joined as one.
j What therefore God has joined together,

Therefore [if] God has joined together,
let not man separate.”
[then] man should not separate them."

Not everyone who asks a difficult question about marriage is asking with good intentions or seeking true understanding.
Into both Jewish and Gentile territory. The gospel is for everyone.
Here Jesus affirms heterosexual marriage as God's design.
God's marriage math: 1 +1=1 .
