So Boaz took Ruth,
וַיִּקַּח בֹּעַז אֶת־רוּת
and [as a result] she became his wife.
וַתְּהִי־לוֹ לְאִשָּׁה

וַיָּבֹא אֵלֶיהָ
n and [as a result] the Lord gave her conception,
וַיִּתֵּן יְהוָה לָהּ הֵרָיוֹן
and [as a result] she bore a son.
וַתֵּלֶד בֵּן׃

o [With the result that] Then the women said to Naomi,
וַתֹּאמַרְנָה הַנָּשִׁים אֶל־נָעֳמִי
“Blessed be the Lord ,
בָּרוּךְ יְהוָה
who [for he] has not left you this day without p a redeemer,
אֲשֶׁר לֹא הִשְׁבִּית לָךְ גֹּאֵל הַיּוֹם
ground
and [as a result] may his name q be renowned in Israel!
וְיִקָּרֵא שְׁמוֹ בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל׃
[That is, this redeemer] He shall be to you a restorer of life
וְהָיָה לָךְ לְמֵשִׁיב נֶפֶשׁ
and a nourisher of your old age,
וּלְכַלְכֵּל אֶת־שֵׂיבָתֵךְ

for your daughter-in-law... has given birth to him.”
כִּי כַלָּתֵךְ אֲשֶׁר־אֲהֵבַתֶךְ יְלָדַתּוּ אֲשֶׁר־הִיא טוֹבָה לָךְ מִשִּׁבְעָה בָּנִים׃
r [that is] who loves you,
[that is] who is more to you than seven sons."

Then Naomi took the child
וַתִּקַּח נָעֳמִי אֶת־הַיֶּלֶד
and [then] laid him on her lap
וַתְּשִׁתֵהוּ בְחֵיקָהּ
and [then] became his nurse.
וַתְּהִי־לוֹ לְאֹמֶנֶת׃
s And [with the result that] the women of the neighborhood gave him a name, saying,
וַתִּקְרֶאנָה לוֹ הַשְּׁכֵנוֹת שֵׁם לֵאמֹר
[that is] “A son has been born to Naomi.”
יֻלַּד־בֵּן לְנָעֳמִי
[With the result that] They named him Obed.
וַתִּקְרֶאנָה שְׁמוֹ עוֹבֵד
[That is] He was the father of Jesse, the father of David .
הוּא אֲבִי־יִשַׁי אֲבִי דָוִד׃פ
Now [to explain this child's place in the generations] these are the generations of Perez:
וְאֵלֶּה תּוֹלְדוֹת פָּרֶץ
t [that is] Perez fathered Hezron,
פֶּרֶץ הוֹלִיד אֶת־חֶצְרוֹן׃
[then] Hezron fathered Ram,
וְחֶצְרוֹן הוֹלִיד אֶת־רָם
[then] Ram fathered Amminadab,
וְרָם הוֹלִיד אֶת־עַמִּינָדָב׃
u [then] Amminadab fathered Nahshon,
וְעַמִּינָדָב הוֹלִיד אֶת־נַחְשׁוֹן
[then] Nahshon fathered Salmon,
וְנַחְשׁוֹן הוֹלִיד אֶת־שַׂלְמָה׃
[then] Salmon fathered Boaz,
וְשַׂלְמוֹן הוֹלִיד אֶת־בֹּעַז
[then] Boaz fathered Obed,
וּבֹעַז הוֹלִיד אֶת־עוֹבֵד׃
[then] Obed fathered Jesse,
וְעֹבֵד הוֹלִיד אֶת־יִשָׁי
and [then] Jesse fathered David .
וְיִשַׁי הוֹלִיד אֶת־דָּוִד׃

Ruth and Boaz Marry 13 So Boaz took Ruth, and she became his wife. The Genealogy of David 18 Now these are the generations of Perez: t Perez fathered Hezron, 19 Hezron fathered Ram, Ram fathered Amminadab, 20 u Amminadab fathered Nahshon, Nahshon fathered Salmon, 21 Salmon fathered Boaz, Boaz fathered Obed, 22 Obed fathered Jesse, and Jesse fathered David.
