Notes
Paul was very grateful to God for the answer to the gospel of the Thessalonians. Paul did not decorate the gospel with his "personal touch" but he preached it faithfully. On the other hand, they did not see Paul as the author of the gospel but only as a messenger of good news they were receiving from God. It was a reason for joy to see how the Word of God was working in them, especially when, despite the suffering from their own countrymen, they remained faithful to God. How do we react when social pressures push us in the opposite direction to the Word of God? Lord, help us to remain faithful to you despite the suffering that we could find in this world.
