When you are tempted toward sin, and can feel you are being attacked by the devil, do you ever consider that your adversary's days are numbered? Though you are subject to his arrows now, know that you will win the final battle and emerge victorious.
And when the thousand years are ended,
d Satan will be released from his prison
and will come out e to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth,
f Gog and Magog,
g to gather them for battle;
their number is like the sand of the sea.
And h they marched up over the broad plain of the earth
and surrounded i the camp of the saints
and j the beloved city,
but k fire came down from heaven 1
and consumed them,
and the devil l who had deceived them was m thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur
where n the beast and the false prophet were,
and they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
This passage fits into the larger context of Rev 19-20, which develops Ezekiel 38-39
many nations come up against Israel (Ezek 38:15-16)
innumerable army like a cloud (Ezek 38:6, 16) --Brian J. Tabb. All Things New: Revelation as Canonical Capstone , New Studies in Biblical Theology 48 (Downers Grove: InterVarsity Press, 2019), 133.
God and his troops 'will go up' ( αναβησεται, Ezek 38:9, 16, 18) --Ibid., 133.
"I will rain upon him...fire" (Ezek 38:22)
This battle is most likely the same battle depicted in Rev 19:11-21
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
