1 Timothy 1:12-17
As I see it, the central idea of this passage is Paul wanting to show that his appointment to the ministry was all of God.

As I see it, the central idea of this passage is Paul wanting to show that his appointment to the ministry was all of God. Paul is truly an example of God's patience, mercy and grace. I have put several explanations in the "sticky notes" on the arc.

I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord,
And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me,
because he judged me faithful,
for that he counted me faithful,
appointing me to his service,
putting me into the ministry;

Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious:
But I received mercy
but I obtained mercy,
because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief,
because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.
And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance,
This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners,
that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners;
of whom I am the foremost.
of whom I am chief.
But I received mercy for this reason,
Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy,
that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.
that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
