to bridle one's tongue is to discipline yourself to be careful what you say. You do not allow whatever comes to mind to come out of your mouth. To restrain

Why do we want religion that is pure before God??? Previous verse in James says " they will be blessed in what they do." We don't want to be living for something that is worthless.
