1 Thessalonians 1:1-10

Paul, a Silvanus, and Timothy, To the church of the b Thessalonians in God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: c Grace to you and peace.
Paul and his fellow companions, to the believers of Thessaloniki in God the Father and God the Son: God's covering over you and shalom within you.
d We give thanks to God always for all of you, constantly 1 e mentioning you in our prayers,
We speak to the Father about you, always bring you before the throne of grace by our prayers,
remembering before f our God and Father
it brings to mind when we are before God the Father
g your work of faith
how your believing is lived out
and labor of h love
and how your desire for good never ceases
and i steadfastness of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
and how this hope in God the Son is on a solid foundation.
For we know, j brothers 1 loved by God,
It is evident our beloved by us and God,
k that he has chosen you,
that you have been touched,
because l our gospel came to you not only in word,
by the proclamation of the this good news that came not only in word,
but also in power
but wonder making power which changes one from the inside out
and m in the Holy Spirit
and by God's Spirit working thru the words spoken over you
and with full n conviction.
and with a complete knowing that you know that your know.
You know o what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake.
For you not only know you've seen the evidence of the type of believers we are walking the walk and talking the talk.
And p you became imitators of us q and of the Lord,
Then you also began to walk the walk and talk the talk just as our Lord manifested while here on earth,
for r you received the word in much affliction, s with the t joy of the Holy Spirit,
for our Lord suffered during His earthly ministry you also in much suffering took the good news to heart with much gladness of heart of God's power working in you,
so that you became an example to all the believers in Macedonia and in Achaia.
so much so your life was shown to all who believe and gave them encouragement in the region of Macedonia and in Achaia.
For not only has the word of the Lord u sounded forth from you in Macedonia and Achaia,
For evidence of your suffering and living out the power in the Spirit come forward in Macedonia and Achaia,
but your faith in God has gone forth v everywhere,
but your strong understanding of God's ways has moved across the region,
so that we need not say anything.
there is nothing else needed to be said.
For they themselves report concerning us the kind of w reception we had among you,
For we've received the reports about us how you received us and our good news,
and how x you turned to God y from idols to serve the living and z true God,
and by the power of the Word you repented by turning from man made precepts to seeing the true One who is living and active in your lives,
and a to wait for his Son b from heaven, c whom he raised from the dead, Jesus d who delivers us from e the wrath to come.
and with confidence you see this time as a testing period until God's son Jesus who is in heaven and whom God raised from the dead, will be the One who rescues us from the end times of total destruction of this world and brings us into the New everlasting one.
Paul reminds the Thessalonians of how their faith, hope, and love are examples to all.
Thessalonians became first imitators of Paul and his fellow companions and then of the Lord himself and they were commended for the examples they are setting before the people around them.
What a wonderful encouragement to me this day that no matter my stage of life (I'm in 70's) or my circumstances (married for 55 years) I have a hope bigger than anything in this life affords me. Although I've been blessed beyond measure even with many shortcomings and weaknesses there is still much to come. In fact, the best is yet to be.
