This passage gives us insight into the faithfulness of God and the hope that we have in the priestly character of Christ Jesus.

Paul takes the opportunity to elaborate on the authority of Christ. By explaining the authority of Christ to the Ephesians he comforts them in the sense that the one who is the head of their church is also the head over the universe for all eternity. God is the one who enlightens our hearts. When our hearts are enlightened we are able to understand the glory of Christ. Our hope is the riches of our inheritance in Christ.
