This is a very peculiar paragraph of Ephesians. It seems that Paul is making sure that his readers do understand the mystery of the unified body of Christ mentioned earlier in 2:11-22. Paul now seems to be explaining his primary calling for ministry: the preaching to the Gentiles. This paragraph serves as a segue to the next few paragraph, including the first part of chapter 4.
